A confused story here. too many sub-plots really. The whole 'Weather balloon' scenario was a red herring and the Sovatek plot would have been better done in more depth. Straker was a bit of a mystery in this one - some fans believing that he was attracted to Jo etc.
However, that is a question for a much more detailed review of the episode. Suffice it to say, there were a few questions posed in this episode.
Why had no one done a background check on the journalist?
Why was Alec Freeman not used to taking charge? After all, he was the second-in-command of SHADO. I like to think that both these questions can be answered by putting this episode fairly early on in the UFO timeline, when people were still finding their feet so to speak.
Other questions -
Why did Straker get changed into the brown suit before he went out to find Jo?
Why were there two places already laid in the table in Straker's house?
It's an episode that deserves a much closer examination.
